The Evaluation Department conducts complex public policy evaluations, both in Europe and in third countries. A large proportion of these evaluations concern donor intervention strategies in the field of development cooperation (including both thematic and country-specific evaluations). The Evaluation Department also develops our methodologies and tools for conducting such evaluations.

We are currently looking for a young professional (junior level expert) to reinforce our Evaluation Department.

Job description
• Participate to the evaluation studies conducted by ADE, in particular for:
o Data collection
o Quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
o Participation to interviews and country visits
o Drafting  reports and making presentations
• Ensure financial, logistical and administrative follow-up of projects and provide assistance in team management
• Participate to business development
• Regular contacts with clients

Academic background
• A university degree at MA or PhD level, preferably in Economics
Professional background
• 2-4 years of professional experience
• Proven track record in conducting (academic) research and studies and/or experience in consultancy, notably in evaluation
• Knowledge and understanding of development cooperation issues, particularly in the field of private sector development and/or development finance
• Fluency in English and working knowledge of French and/or other languages (notably Dutch) would be an asset
Key competencies

• Strong capabilities in qualitative and quantitative data analysis
• Capacity to synthesize complex issues, to identify key policy messages and to present them in a compelling manner
• A strong interest in evaluation methodology (both qualitative and quantitative)
• Strong writing and presentation skills
• Strong organisational and planning skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams
• Professionalism in contacts with clients and stakeholders
• Very good command of the main computer software packages (Word, PPT and Excel). Knowledge of statistical software packages (e.g. SPSS, E-views, Stata) would be an asset
• Availability to travel a few times per year (typically for one to three weeks missions)
