Fragility, conflict, peace and security

Tackling the interrelated issues causing fragility in a changing and increasingly uncertain global environment represents a major challenge. ADE, specialised in evaluation, provides outstanding research-led work on fragility, conflict, peace and security issues. ADE also supports lesson learning, which has played an important role in advancing peace processes across the globe. We apply “Do No Harm” principles in all our activities.

Rule of law and citizen participation

Shaping how public authority is exercised and how it can be influenced by people is critical for development. The advancement of the rule of law is essential for access to justice for all and for the full realisation of human rights. State-society relations and socio-political cohesion are also areas of great importance to state building and peacebuilding. ADE supports the design, implementation and evaluation of policies and programmes that strengthen institutions and foster reforms aimed at guaranteeing democracy, the rule of law and human rights. This includes support to public administration reform.

Migration

ADE contributes to devising ways to better understand and deal with the different dimensions of migration. Migration impacts the lives of those who migrate, the societies from which they leave, and the hosting communities. It is a recurrent phenomenon throughout history and in all continents. It concerns refugees from wars or other disasters, and people who migrate for economic reasons.
